Protecting Your Extensions In Dry Climates & Cool Temps
As temps drop and heaters kick on, it’s time to cozy up your hair care routine.
Cooler air + indoor heat = dry, static-prone strands (and yes, your hair extensions will feel it too!).
Here’s how to keep your hair soft, shiny, and healthy all winter long:
1️⃣ Boost your moisture game:
Swap in a hydrating shampoo + conditioner combo to combat dryness and static. Try R+Co Atlantis or On a Cloud for deep nourishment that won’t weigh your hair down.
2️⃣ Layer your hydration:
After every wash, apply a leave-in conditioner before detangling—this helps prevent breakage when brushing through your hair. Then follow with a lightweight oil morning and night to seal in moisture and smooth frizz.
3️⃣ Protect from heat + cold:
Going from cold air outside and dry heat inside will dehydrate your extensions. Always apply a leave-in conditioner or moisture cream like High Dive, Waterfall, or F-Flayer Serum before restyling or stepping outdoors.
4️⃣ Minimize static:
Use a silk scrunchie or pillowcase to reduce friction while you sleep. Bonus tip: a light mist of leave-in spray or oil through mid-lengths helps tame flyaways during the day. If the static is still strong use your moisture cream to tame the flyaways.
5️⃣ Stay on schedule:
Regular trims and maintenance visits are key to keeping your ends healthy and your extensions smooth, shiny, and ready for any cozy get-together. Try adding a gloss to your appointment, as it will seal the cuticle for less frizz and flyaways and more manageable styling.
✨ Pro Tip: Wash days are your best chance to rehydrate your extensions—add a mask from mids to ends and let it sit for 5–10 minutes before rinsing. Or add on an in-salon treatment for moisture or repair for deeper nourshiment.
